The 4th European Software Engineering Process Group Conference (SEPEG'99) will be held in Amsterdam on June 7 to 10 1999. The organisers say they expect the meeting in the Netherlands to be the largest gathering this year of European software professionals who are implementing or investigating software process improvement.

The conference is intended to look at the pivotal role of software in business, the industry's responsibilities, and the challenges and opportunities ahead. Subtitled, 'Software Quality and Productivity in a Changing World', SEPEG'99 will focus particularly on the activities of organisations practising software process improvement (SPI), demonstrating tried and tested procedures, new approaches, and results and planning for the future.

The conference organisers are inviting proposals for paper presentations, tutorials and panel discussions from representatives of organisations with experience in the following areas:

- Organisational improvement;
- Team improvement;
- Individual improvement.

The event will also include a plenary session and exhibition of SPI-related suppliers.

The conference is a joint initiative between the ESPI Foundation with the support of the European Commission, the European Software Institute and the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute.
