European Water Management and the Economic aspects of the Water framework Directive

The 4th EWA Brussels conference in Brussels on November 4th will bring experts and opinion makers closer to the aspects of economic policy associated with the Water Framework Directive.

4 November 2008 - 4 November 2008
Belgium
Evidently, the implementation of the Directive has enormous financial implications. It is important to understand the workings of the legislation and what are the economic instruments which have been provided by and for water management. Integrated management should now rely more than before on economic evaluation, pricing policies and stakeholder involvement.

The key sessions for the day will include:
• Economic evaluation for decision making , with different approaches, and the expectations and demands from the environmental point of view
• Economic instruments for the management of water uses, with practical experiences, social issues…
• What further research is needed

This will be a major event for all stakeholders involved in the water sector and economic decision making for better water management
