Conference of the research programme of the French Presidency of European Union

This international Conference, aimed at European and international decision-makers and stakeholders will demonstrate the strategic importance of research on the impact of agriculture and biodiversity. This area of research, currently expanding fast, will assess the consequences of biodiversity loss for agricultural activities as well as the impact of agriculture on biodiversity. This research will help to define better methods for conservation, including the enhancement of biodiversity wishing new farming strategies, as well as for production.
The Conference will be held in Montpellier at the Corum on the 4th and on the 5th of November 2008 under the aegis of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union (July-December 2008). This event is patronized by the French Ministry for Higher Education and Research and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. The French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) is coordinating the event, whose programme has been prepared by an international Scientific Committee chaired by Robert Barbault. The whole Conference will be broadcast live on internet.
