European Technology Platform for Sustainable Chemistry - Annual Event 3 Feb 09 - Prague

SusChem - the European Technology Platform for Sustainable Chemistry - will be holding its seventh Stakeholder conference in Prague on 3 February 2009, as an official event of the Czech Presidency.

This workshop will examine how SusChem’s excellent European research can be efficiently translated into successful European business. SusChem is now working to promote and extend its activities beyond research and development into innovation initiatives and looking to deepen industry-academia interactions towards collaborative innovation across the value chain.

In parallel sessions three important questions for the future of SusChem innovation initiatives will be discussed:

• What is required for SusChem to play an effective role in stimulating Innovation Implementation in the European Chemical Industry?
• How can we address intellectual property rights (IPR) in Innovation Implementation?
• What are the critical skills needed for innovation in the European Chemical Industry?

SUCCESS AS SOLUTION PROVIDERS

The workshop will also review SusChem’s concrete success and achievements in stimulating research projects through FP7. This will cover SusChem’s main technology areas:

• Materials,
• Reaction & Process Design,
• Industrial Biotechnology.

and its visionary projects:

• Smart Energy Home project
• F³ Factory.

It will review future actions to refine the SusChem research portfolio and discuss the role of the Chemical Industry and Chemistry as solution providers for society.
