A symposium entitled Financing Solar Energy in India will be held in New Delhi in March.

The symposium aims to bring together representatives of the Indian and European financial and industrial sectors. It will present a strategy to enhance the flow of funds from conventional financial institutions to the solar energy industry. The strategy is based on research supported by the THERMIE programme of the European Commission.

The target group for the symposium includes banks, the European and Indian solar industry, experts in technology transfer, business managers with joint venture experience and EU and Indian government representatives.

The symposium will cover topics including financial needs of the Indian solar energy market, the legal framework and business planning.

The forum will be held on 16 March 1999 and is supported by the THERMIE programme run by the Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission.
