ASTRON information day in satellite telecommunications

There will be an information day about ASTRON (applications on the synergy of satellite telecommunications) in Ispra, Italy, on 19 January 1999.
The event has been planned to coincide with the end of the pathfinder phase for ASTRON (1996-1998) and the final presentation of work undertaken relevant to this; the beginning of ASTRON's role in the Fifth Framework Programme of the European Commission; and the commencement of the Fifth Framework Programme itself, particularly the coordinated space related activities.
ASTRON investigates the synergies between space technologies and aims to introduce innovative and sustainable services & applications based on the convergence of digital information from satellites.
The event is being organised by the Strategy and Systems for Space Applications Unit of the Space Applications Institute of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre.
