5th ERCIM Joint Workshop on Software Evolution
The special theme of the workshop for this year’s anniversary edition, which coincides with the 20th anniversary of ERCIM itself, is “The Future of Software Evolution”. One of the continuing goals of the Working Group is actually to set the agenda for future research in software evolution and to raise awareness about its importance, in research as well as in industry.
The Software Evolution Working Group includes over 70 academic and industry members coming from 17 different European countries, as well as Japan, Canada and the USA.
According to Dr Tom Mens, General Chair of the event and Chair of the ERCIM Working Group on Software Evolution, “Software evolution research will always remain a very active research topic of software engineering since software is becoming increasingly more ubiquitous and indispensable in our information-based society. In addition to – or as a side effect of – this, software is evolving ever more rapidly, and so does the technology it is relying on”.
ERCIM, the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics, aims to foster collaborative work within the European research community and to increase co-operation with European industry.
One of the means to achieve this goal is through the use of Working Groups devoted to building and maintaining networks of researchers in a particular scientific field. Their main activities are the organisation of workshops, the increase of international mobility, and the preparation of common project proposals submitted to the European Commission.
Leading ICT research institutes from twenty European countries are members of ERCIM, which therefore represents a force of over 12,000 ICT researchers and scientists - www.ercim.orgInformation: http://ssel.vub.ac.be/iwpse-evol/(opens in new window)
