EIBIR launches WINTER SCHOOL

The first EIBIR (European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research) winter school will take place in Viladrau (Spain) from 17 - 22 January 2010. The main objective of the EIBIR Winter School is to support the interdisciplinary training of technical and clinical PhD students working in the broad area of biomedical imaging.

17 January 2010 - 22 January 2010
Austria
In this first edition of the EIBIR Winter School on Interdisciplinary Biomedical Imaging, two key clinical disease areas will be addressed which altogether represent the two leading causes of death worldwide: cardiovascular disease and oncology. Each topic will be covered from the perspective of novel methods for biomedical image acquisition, analysis and interpretation as well as from the perspective of computational modeling and interventional planning, where appropriate. The themes will be explored based on the key driving clinical questions as well as from an understanding of the underlying disease mechanisms or pathophysiology. The faculty will include lecturers with a clinical, biomedical and technical background, from both academia and industry. Reading groups, poster sessions and social activities will be offered. The target group are second- and third-year students pursuing their graduate studies within PhD programs of biomedical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, physics, medical physics, and medicine. Participants should have a basic understanding of biomedical imaging, in terms of acquisition and image analysis and interpretation.

Application via email to office@eibir.org, before October 1st, 2009 including a Curriculum Vitae, a letter of intention and contact details of two referees and current main supervisor.More information and preliminary programme available at http://www.eibir.org(opens in new window)
