Conference on coastal waters management during wet weather
In this context, the SMBCG (French public entity formed by local communities in the Granville Coastal Basin), in charge of water quality protection and beneficiary of the “MARECLEAN” Life Environment project, is organizing a European conference in Granville (France), to provide a complete overview of the reduction in the quality of coastal waters in wet weather, on 30th September and 1st October 2009.
The conference will focus on the theme of the pollution of coastal waters, including:
- a summary of the regulations and the latest developments introduced by the new directives
- the surveying and modelling methods available of identifying these pollution phenomena(definition, identification and grading of the sources of contamination)
- the solutions developed to date, encouraging active management and sustainable preventive measures in these coastal waters (active management solutions for sewer systems and bathing waters, forecast of regulatory water classification and many more)
- public information and management issues
During the 2 days of the conference, there will be a total of 36 case studies in France (notably from the MARECLEAN Life Environment project), in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal which will describe experience return from the field.
