Conference on Biofuels best practices from European countries
BITES is an initiative funded under the 6th Framework Programme (FP6) of the European Commission, as a Specific Support Action under the Sustainable energy systems action line, Thematic Promotion and Dissemination.
It is promoted by 5 national associations, creating a network with more than 600 members representing several regions of the European Union: ITABIA (Italian Biomass Association), SVEBIO (Swedish Bioenergy Association), GBA (German Biogas Association), UNACOMA (the Italian National Union of Agricultural Machine Manufacturers) and IPiEO/EC BREC (the Polish Institute for Fuels and Renewable Energy). The activities are supported by Minerva C&C, ensuring the dissemination of the project.
BITES experts were divided in 3 interconnected working groups in order to analyse and select the biofuels best practices from 3 perspectives: high performance distribution chains, compliance with the EU/national legislations and economically viable.
BITES Project Final Conference is addressed to representatives of the biofuel industry, the scientific community, associations and organizations involved in the biofuel policy debate, manufacturers of machinery for agriculture, livestock raising and the agri-industry. It will include a presentation on recently published funding opportunities from EC programmes.
The conference will be held next 09th October in Fiera del Levante (Bari, Italy), on the occasion of the 2009 edition of AGRILEVANTE - International Exhibition of Machinery Plant and Technologies (08th to 11th October 2009). The current edition is specially focused on renewable energy sources connected to agriculture, with reference especially to biomass, biogas and wind and photovoltaic energy generation. www.agrilevante.eu
