The 5th joint call for trans-national projects of the EUROTRANS-BIO (ETB) initiative is open since the 1st October, 2009. The deadline for submitting proposals is February 1st 2010. The overall budget allocated for this call is about 30 millions €.

1 October 2009 - 1 February 2010
Austria
EUROTRANS-BIO (ETB), established as an ERA-NET project supported by the European Commission, is an initiative between governmental R&D&I funding agencies in Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, The Netherlands, Basque Country, Catalonia and Madrid (Spain), Flanders and Wallonia (Belgium).
ETB’s main goals are: (1) to establish cross-border partnerships between SMEs and their strategic partners, (2) to improve and accelerate technology transfer, (3) to strengthen European efforts, and (4) to achieve sustainable industrial development in the field of biotechnology.

ETB launches common calls for industry-driven trans-national R&D&I projects with a view to create an integrated funding programme for biotech SMEs. Since 2004 four joint calls were implemented and 80 projects, with overall project costs of 139 millions €, were funded. From 2009 to 2012 ETB will launch annual calls and establish a sustainable joint program for funding biotech SMEs R&D&I projects in Europe.

For this fifth call, funding will be offered to innovative industrial R&D&I and applied research projects in all fields of biotechnology (red, green, white, blue, etc). Projects in the field of Health & Nutrition related to biotechnology may also be funded depending on national/regional funding criteria.
Consortia consisting of at least two SMEs from two different participating Countries can apply for ETB funding. Each applicant should contact his/her national funding agency before proposal submission.
