The sixth scientific conference of the International Global Atmospheric Chemistry Project (IGAC) will be held in Bologna, Italy, between 13 and 17 September 1999.

The aim of the conference is to bring scientists together to discuss current knowledge regarding the measurement and modelling of the concentration and distribution of gases and aerosols in the atmosphere, chemical reactions among atmospheric species, sources and sinks of important trace gases and aerosols, aqueous phase atmospheric chemistry, transport of gases and aerosols throughout the atmosphere, and improved methods for measuring the concentrations of trace species and their fluxes into and out of the atmosphere.

The conference will focus on:

- Biosphere-Atmosphere Interactions;
- Atmospheric Photo-Oxidants;
- Atmospheric Aerosols;
- Atmospheric Chemistry-Climate Interactions.

The conference is being organised by the European Commission, DGXII, and the Joint Research Centre (JRC).
