Still places available for participants to Policy Forum of Concord 2010

The deadline for registration to participate in the Policy Forum of the European Conference on Corporate Research and Development (CONCORD-2010), focussing on Corporate R&D – An engine for growth, a challenge for European policy, to be held in Seville, Spain on 4 March 2010 has been extended to 15 February.

4 March 2010
Spain
This conference, organised by the European Commission's Joint Research Centre's Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS) and the Spanish Centre for Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) in close collaboration with the Commission's Directorate-Generals Research and Enterprise and Industry, is one of the highlights of the Spanish EU Presidency Programme in the fields of research and innovation.

Concord 2010, unique in its approach, will bring together researchers, policy analysts, policy makers and industrialists to share specific knowledge on corporate R&D and to discuss ways to stimulate investment in R&D as an engine for economic growth and employment. The outcomes of the event will be translated into support to European research and innovation policy making. Conference conclusions concerning the impact of corporate R&D on company performance and employment and regarding policies to increase this impact are due to be presented to the Competitiveness Council and will feed into the preparation of the EU Innovation Plan. Accordingly, policy implications resulting from CONCORD will support developing the EU 2020 Strategy, as proposed by President Barroso in his political guidelines for the new Commission.

High level speakers will include C. Garmendia, Spanish Minister for Science and Innovation; Ms. P. Toia, Deputy Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE); and several Chief Executive Officers from leading small and large companies, such as Mr. E. Schnee, from Merck Serono, Mr. J. Mª Fernández Sousa Faro, from Zeltia Group and P. Pouletty, from Truffle Capital.
