UKRO Annual Conference 2010 - REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

UKRO is pleased to announce that registration for the 2010 Annual Conference, which will take place at the conference centre “Het Pand” and “Gravensteen Castle”, Ghent, on 1 – 2 July, is now open. The conference is aimed at European research managers and administrators and policy makers.

1 July 2010 - 2 July 2010

Following the appointment of the new Commission key sessions will provide the latest information on the developments in the European Research Area (ERA); planning for future Framework Programmes; and the EU2020 New Lisbon Strategy. As FP7 approaches its mid-point UKRO has planned to include sessions that will promote discussion on the latest developments across the programme such as FP7 Implementation Issues; the ERC Mid Term Review; the Marie Curie Actions; and Research Infrastructures. The programme will cover the whole Knowledge Triangle with sessions on Innovation Policy; Post i2010 Strategy (including the Future Internet PPP); Erasmus Mundus; and the development of Joint Programming Initiatives. The closing session of the conference will focus on the Research Priorities of the Belgian Presidency, which runs from 1 July until 31 December 2010.

As part of the two-day conference, a drinks reception is being hosted by the University of Ghent at “Gravensteen Castle” on the evening of 1 July. This will be followed immediately by the conference dinner in the same venue.

As with previous conferences, the programme includes a lot of networking opportunities and throughout the event delegates will have the chance to meet Commission speakers and counterparts from research institutions across the UK and beyond.

UKRO would recommend booking as soon as possible to guarantee a place, as these will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a special early-bird offer available for bookings made before the 21 May 2010: 360 EUR (including VAT).

Both “Het Pand” and “Gravensteen Castle” are in central Ghent. Delegates will need to arrange their own accommodation for the 2010 Conference. To assist with this, a number of rooms have been held in a range of central hotels. Delegates can use the accommodation booking service that has been set up for the conference to reserve and hold rooms of their choice.

The conference website contains full details, including the provisional conference programme, booking and travel information and the accommodation booking service.

We hope that you can join us in Ghent, and look forward to seeing you there.
