FLARE was the first European post-doctoral programme on ageing research funded by the Member States themselves. It was a unique joint post-doctoral funding initiative between participating countries in the European Research Area in Ageing and it funded 18 fellowships. FLARE 2 will follow on from its success.
The FLARE 2 programme follows the unique approach of FLARE in the promotion of both European scientific mobility and cross-disciplinary development. Each of the 3-year post-doctoral research fellowships comprises a main project part and a mobility part of. The second part must be spent in another European country and with a research group consisting mainly of a different discipline to the fellow’s.
The programme will include presentations by FLARE Fellows. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to see the FLARE Fellows research projects displayed in poster form and hear about their experiences first hand.
FLARE 2 will be launched online on the 15th July 2010 and will run from 2011 to 2014. Details can be found on the ERA-AGE website: www.shef.ac.uk/era-age.
