New models cover sustainable development

New models for sustainable development of the regional information society are the focus of the international conference "Regional futures...measuring success", which will be held in Kortriyk, Belgium, on 18 and 19 November 1999.
It will particularly focus on a two-year research project, subsidised by the ISPO office of the European Commission, Directorate-General XIII, called "Information society impact assessment for sustainability" (ISIAS).
The aims of the conference are to:
- Show and discuss the importance of ICT-models for sustainable regional development;
- Visualize regional development and present the common framework;
- Provide demonstrations by regional planners of regional models, and give the results from the ISIAS project and case studies, as well as simulations;
- SME case studies.
