Investment Forum for Innovative SMEs @ ICT 2010, Brussels - Belgium
The ICT Finance MarketPlace is an initiative delivered by three DG INFSO clustered Support Actions, YMIR, ACCESS-ICT and VENTUREGATE, with the aim to improve access to finance for innovating ICT SMEs across Europe. The initiative target SME’s of in the ICT sector emerging from FP6 and FP7 projects which will be supported in their search for the right investors to turn their science into breadwinner.
Being a fully endorsed initiative by the European Commission’s DG Information Society and Media, the ICT Finance MarketPlace will be massively present within the “ICT 2010: Digitally Driven” event organised by the EC and hosted by the EU Belgian Presidency in Brussels on 27-29 September. The ICT Finance MarketPlace will have a dedicated stand in the “SME Village” Zone of the exhibition displaying tools and information in support of SMEs, and will also organise two sets of events, the Venture Academy on the 27th and the Investment Readiness Workshop and Investment Forum on the 28th.
The Venture Academy is a one-day coaching event aimed at developing venture-backed and early-stage entrepreneurs and preparing them effectively for meetings and negotiations with venture capital or corporate investors. Participating SMEs, split in different small-group coaching sessions, will deliver short presentation before a panel of coaches and will receive personalised feedback. At the Investment Readiness Workshop, taking place the following day, participants will hear from different investors how to make their investment proposition attractive; at the Investment Forum, entrepreneurs will be offered the concrete opportunity to showcase their businesses in front of an international network of venture capital and corporate investors, strategic partners and expert advisers. This as invaluable chance for young, innovative companies to get in contact with top-level international partners, advisors and financiers and boost up their business. Two pitching sessions are foreseen and entrepreneurs can also pre-arrange meetings with presenting companies, investors and corporate partners of their choice. This long day of promising outcomes and active debate will be saluted by the concluding remarks of Commissioner for the Digital Agenda Ms. Neelie Kroes.
