Shrinkage in Europe; causes, effects and policy strategies

In both the academic world and the political debates, shrinkage has become a pressing problem in many parts of Europe. The severity of shrinkage and the time span in which shrinkage is occurring differs between the different parts of Europe. Even though the amount of literature on shrinkage is increasing, it remains difficult to pinpoint the exact causes and consequences of shrinkage.
