EpiGeneSys Open Call 2011 for young PIs, SMEs and Associates

Network of Excellence EpiGeneSys seeks to integrate new members.

17 March 2011 - 29 April 2011
Austria
22 scientific teams have joined forces to unite the thriving fields of epigenetics and systems biology in a common Network of Excellence “EpiGeneSys”, funded by the 7th Framework Programme (FP7). The network’s inter-disciplinary research programme addresses fundamental epigenetic mechanisms in quantitative terms, both spatially and temporally, in order to model and predict how the balance between maintenance and erasure of epigenetic information varies in specific contexts.

The consortium seeks to integrate new members into the network: 9 young researchers, 1 SME and 20 associate members in 2011.

Young PI applicants, within their first 3 years of independence, are expected to work at the interface of biological, computational, and/or engineering sciences to produce data relevant to mathematical analyses and modelling of epigenetic mechanisms. They should demonstrate active involvement in the activities of EpiGeneSys, both at the level of the network’s scientific and technological objectives and at the level of the dissemination, training and long-term activities. The successful candidates will obtain a 3-year research grant of 150,000€ and full access to the network’s activities.

SMEs applying to this call should enlarge and strengthen the research activities of EpiGeneSys. Proposals focusing on acquisition, storage, modelling and integration of epigenetics data and on novel visualization and user guided analysis of massive biological datasets are strongly encouraged. SME applicants must be eligible for funding via FP7 and fit in the EC definition of an SME. The successful SME will obtain a 3-year research grant of 150,000€ and full access to the network’s activities.

Established scientists with an active interest in partaking in and contributing to the scientific research and non-scientific activities of this Network of Excellence can apply for associate membership. Associate membership will open access to EpiGeneSys benefits including free participation in NoE meetings and the opportunity to partake in EpiGeneSys activities.

Submission deadline for application: 29th April 2011
