Course on Financial Audits of FP6 & FP7 Projects - Brussels

An intensely practical course offering insight and good practice suggestions for dealing with EU audits will be taking place in Brussels on the 11th May.

11 May 2011 - 11 May 2011
Belgium
The Commission has increased significantly the number of audits carried out by it for both FP6 and FP7 projects. Wider use is also being made of penalties and sanctions such as liquidated damages and extrapolation.

This one day briefing organised by Berkley Associates and Walker Associates will look at the impact of the Commission’s audit strategy and how research projects and their advisers can successfully respond to the challenges it presents.

With the help of practical case studies, the presenters will show you how to prepare for and manage the audit process in the best possible way. The workshop will take you through all the various stages of the audit process and includes the following subjects:
- Background to the audit policy
- The EU control mechanisms for R&D projects
- How EU audits are organised
- Areas of concern for the auditors (project weak spots)
- Preparation for the audit (responding to control questionnaires; documents to prepare; pre-audit checks)
- The audit visit and follow-up (how should issues and documents be presented; responding to the audit report; extrapolation and liquidated damages)
- Preventative measures

The briefing will be led by John Stringer, a UK Barrister and Simon Walker an experienced R&D funding professional. Both speakers have extensive experience of the management FP6 and FP7 projects and of responding to audits by the Commission services.
Venue: CENELEC Meeting Centre Brussels, full details will be sent after your registration.

Registration deadline: 5th May 2011.
