Dinner Debate on Clinical Research in Europe - Bruxelles, Belgium
Salon Privé
European Parliament, Brussels
ECRIN is a pan-European infrastructure funded by Europe’s 7th Framework Programme. It contributes to Europe’s Innovation Union 2020 strategy on health and research, leading to defragmentation of the clinical research capacity, which is critical to generate value, boosting the access of innovation to market, and reducing the burden of disease. ECRIN is designed to facilitate multinational clinical trials driven by academic investigators and biotech or medical device SMEs. It provides academic investigators and biotechnology or medical device SME sponsors with information to support the design and the preparation of the study. The infrastructure also connects national networks and hubs of clinical research centres and clinical trial units, allowing for provision of coordinated services to multinational studies.
The debate will touch upon the contribution that clinical research infrastructures in the European Union can make to Europe’s Innovation Union 2020 strategy on health and research, leading to defragmentation of the clinical research capacity, which is critical to generate value, boosting the access of innovation to market, and reducing the burden of disease. Particular attention will be paid to the issues pertaining to the European legislative framework on clinical trials, in the context of the foreseen revision of the Clinical Trials Directive in 2012.
