The FORESTA project is hitting the road: five events to enhance EU-LA ICT cooperation announced in Latin America.

The Chilean and Argentinean symposiums to be held next 7-8-9 June are opening the ICT Policy conferences to foster the research dimension of EU-LA dialogue on ICT.

7 June 2011 - 8 June 2011
Argentina
After more than one year of activities dedicated to analysis, studies and high-level meetings with research and policy stakeholders to assess the state-of-the-art of EU-Latin American dialogue on ICT, the FORESTA project has embarked on the next phase of its plan to foster bi-regional research cooperation: the organisation of the FORESTA ICT policy conferences as well as of a pioneering concertation meeting with the representatives of the national funding agencies throughout the region.

The international conference “ICT Challenges for Innovation” , to be held the 7th -8th of June in Santiago de Chile under the organisation of the Chilean partner Universidad Tecnólogica Metropolitana, will kick off the series. The event will be immediately followed on the 9th of June by the conference in Buenos Aires organised by the Argentinean partner Universidad de Palermo. The next appointment will be in Mexico, on the 4th of July, whereas the concertation meeting and policy conference in Brazil in September, from the 21st to the 23rd, will close the Latin America tour and operations will move to Brussels for the FORESTA final event at the end of the year.
The FORESTA conferences will boast an international panel of Latin American and European key players of the industry, academia and government involved in S&T cooperation, which will be able to provide expert and inspiring insights into the challenges and opportunities of a coordinated strategy for EU-LA R+D+i. Besides, success stories of cooperative research and recommendations emerging from the FORESTA studies will be brought to the attention of the public. With a view to strengthen collaboration as an immediate results of the conferences, practical working groups are also planned based on the mutual technological priorities and local roadmap for cooperation with Europe identified on a case-by-case basis.
Agendas of the upcoming events in Chile and Argentina, as well as practical information and registration details, are ready and available at the project website www.forestaproject.eu . Participation is free and encouraged for all people active in innovation and technological research and interested to understand and debate the EU-LA current cooperation scenario and its future trends.
