Technology Development in European Academia Conference, Manchester UK

As part of an ERA-Instruments activity (http://www.era-instruments.eu/(opens in new window)) , BBSRC are hosting an event showcasing Technology Development in European Academia on September 5th-6th in Manchester, UK.

5 September 2011 - 6 September 2011
Austria
This event is re-advertising of an event postponed from June 16th-17th

The event will be, as before, free to attend, and accommodation at the venue will be provided for the evening of September 5th for attendees if required.

As before, the intention of this event is two-fold;

(1) To provide a showcase of technology development in the life sciences undertaken by academics in the ERA-Instruments partner countries (the UK, France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Iceland, the Czech Republic, Greece Spain and Estonia).

(2) To provide an opportunity for technology developers in the life sciences in EU academic institutions to network with other academic technology developers, technology users and the private sector, to encourage exchange of best practice and the formation of collaborations in preparation for bids to Framework or national funding schemes.

The intended audience are technology developers and users of life sciences instrumentation from the UK and EU.

We hope that scientists would be interested in attending this event, either as a technology developer interested in showcasing work and networking with other developers, or as a user interested in finding out about the new technologies.

All delegates would be requested to present a poster or an audiovisual demonstration of their technology or user requirements at this meeting. These would be describing:

For technology developers; the technology being developed, the potential user-base etc.
For users; the scientific challenges which require new technologies and methodologies to overcome.

We regret we will be unable to accommodate live technology demonstrations of technology at the venue but welcome videos or other audio-visual demonstrations of technology. These presentations and demonstrations will be held on the first day, with the second being concerned with presentations on technology development in a variety of areas, plus a panel discussion. Further information and updates can be found here;
http://www.bbsrc.ac.uk/news/events/1109-technology-in-european-academia.aspx(opens in new window) where registration forms can also be obtained.

If you are interested in attending this event, please either complete the registration form found on the website and return it to Fiona Dickinson (bbsrc.csu@bbsrc.ac.uk) by Thursday August 11th 2011, or request the form directly from the same address.
