All interested parties in the European Commission's Green Paper on Public Sector Information in the Information Society are invited to express their view on the subject during a public hearing in Brussels on 25 May 1999.

The Green Paper, entitled "Public Sector Information: a Key Resource for Europe", on 20 January 1999, looks at how information, gathered by government departments and other public bodies, can be used to provide the greatest benefit to citizens and businesses around Europe.

Drawn up by the Acting Commissioner Martin Bangemann, this Paper says the multimedia industry could use a lot of information out there to develop new products and services.

As well as being invited to the Public Hearing, all interested parties are encouraged to submit contributions setting out their views to the Commission before 1 June 1999.
