18 October 2011 - 19 October 2011

Are you a finance or administrative member of staff involved in EU research projects, whether as a coordinator or partner?

Or are you a research manager, advisor or contracts member of staff, needing to know how to negotiate a consortium agreement for collaborative projects in FP7?

Yes? Then one, or more than likely BOTH of the following workshops (as they complement each other), are essential for you to attend:

FINANCE IN FP7 – Tuesday 18 October 2011 :
CONSORTIUM AGREEMENTS FOR FP7 - Wednesday 19 October 2011

FINANCE: Framework Seven (FP7) brings with it new financial rules, which cover everything from eligible costs to interest earned on advance payments, from payment terms to penalties, from subcontracting to social costs. This workshop addresses the financial rules and practices of the Cooperation and Capacities Programmes of FP7. Through lectures and exercises, it will give you a practical interpretation of the EU financial rules and guidelines drawing on real experience. The workshop is also suitable for project managers and professional advisors working on these projects.

CONSORTIUM AGREEMENTS: A good consortium agreement can support effective project management and minimise risks to intellectual property rights (IPR). But what is a good consortium agreement? Should power to transfer budgets between partners rest with an elected board, or with a general assembly of all partners? Should affiliates have free access to the IPR generated in the project? Which takes priority: academic publication or commercial confidentiality? Should EC payments be distributed immediately, or only on proof of work done? This workshop will explain the main features and options for consortium agreements for collaborative projects in FP7. It will compare the DESCA, Digital Europe, EUCAR and ASD model consortium agreements and will cover the major terms of the EC grant agreement, which provides the context.

Both of the workshops will be held in Cambridge, UK and will be limited to 24 participants each to allow high levels of interaction and plenty of time for questions.
