To demonstrate the use of IT and multimedia in social work learning and practice, the MIDAS-NET node for Scotland and Northern Ireland is holding a workshop in Dundee, UK, on 18 May 1999.

During this conference, the role of MIDAS-NET in the INFO2000 programme will be outlined and the participants will gain:

- Hands-on experience with the child-counselling CD-ROM "Bruce's Multimedia Story";
- Detailed information on a new CD-ROM "Billy Breaks the Rules" for use with older children;
- Prototype demonstrations of tools for use by social work practitioners and managers;
- Information and demonstration of online learning materials being developed for social work students in the West of Scotland as part of Clyde Virtual University.

The workshop will be of special interest to social work staff who wish to learn more about the online and offline developments in computer-based tools for social work practice and training.
