Horizon 2020: The Challenges and Opportunities for Ireland

ISC, together with Irish Members of the European Parliament, is organising an afternoon seminar to discuss the challenges and perspectives for Ireland arising from Horizon 2020, the EU’s forthcoming Framework Programme for research and development and demonstration.

31 January 2012 - 31 January 2012
Austria
The objective of the meeting is to facilitate discussion with Irish MEPs on the future priorities for the research community on the island of Ireland and to consider the potential impact of Horizon 2020 for industry and academia. On November 30 2011, the European Commission published its proposals for Horizon 2020. This marks the beginning of the negotiation process leading to the adoption of an agreed legislative package by the Council of Ministers and European Parliament. Over the coming year, these institutions will therefore consider the priorities, themes and implementing instruments up to the adoption of Horizon 2020 and related legislation. It will be important for research institutions and science- and technology-based industries across Ireland that their priorities and challenges are understood by their representatives in the European Parliament.
