An event, entitled European Technology Meetings "Innovation and Sport Competition" will take place on 24 and 25 June 1999, before the French Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Nevers - Magny-Cours racetrack. This will be an opportunity for industrial companies within the field to meet researchers and engineers from technical centres.

The site attracts world-wide attention each year, during the week of the Formula 1 Grand Prix, and gathers the elite of hi-tech experts and companies from the fields of sports and competition. However, it is less widely known that the surrounding region also has several highly advanced SMES in the field of sports equipment.

The event is related to any type of innovation technologies applied to sports. The topics selected are divided into four main areas:

- Materials;
- On-board electronics;
- Software;
- Engine and Propulsion.

The conference will also include four workshops involving regional, national and international experts from companies and research.

This event is being organised by the ANVAR Bourgogne in partnership with the Innovation Relay Centre (IRC) France Centr'Est.
