The international conference on social services in the Information Society "HUSITA 5" is being held in Budapest, Hungary, between 29 August and 1 September 1999. The aim of this conference is to engage in the world of information and communications technologies (ICT) in such a way that it contributes to and enhances people's well-being.

Sponsored by the European Commission's Information Society Project Office, ISPO, the event will focus on the following issues:

- The broader context of human services in the Information Society;
- ICT in teaching and learning social welfare;
- ICT for specific user groups;
- Social service provision supported by technology.
