The European network on "work and family life" is organising a Franco-Belgian seminar on the theme "Adapting working practices for a new balance between management, women and men". The event will be held in Lille, France, on 3 and 4 June 1999.

The seminar aims to be a forum for exchanging knowledge from experiences from different countries (including Germany, the UK and Sweden, as well as France and Belgium). It will look at different approaches, for example those of management, men and women, researchers, and trades unions, with the aim of promoting new practices. The development of new attitudes, increasing productivity, increasing the proportion of women in management, and increasing the visibility of their views of management and their links with work should all contribute to a better quality of working life.

The event will also include discussions of industrial and municipal experiments, European research on equality and reduction of working hours, and round tables with unions and managers.
