The sixth congress on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) will be held in Toronto, Canada, between 8 and 12 November 1999. This congress will build on the strengths of the ITS community in each nation and region as this field moves from an era of research and development into one of deployment.

The first ITS World Congress was held in 1994 in Paris with the aim of bringing together men and women from around the world who acted on the belief that advanced technology can and should be used in surface transport to save lives, time and money.

Since then, ITS organisations have emerged in Australia, Canada, Korea and many other nations and regions. Each World Congress serves as a 'big tent' to develop consensus from the diverse views of a diverse ITS world community.

The sixth World Congress in Toronto is sponsored by Ertico (Intelligent Transport Systems - Europe).
