IN-TELE - an EU-funded project which aims to promote the use of the Internet in schools - is holding a second conference in Jena, Germany, from 16 to 18 September 1999.

The main purpose of IN-TELE, which is supported by the Telematics Applications programme, is to develop conceptually new approaches to Internet teaching and learning, and to promote cooperation between educational institutions.

University-based groups from the UK, France, Sweden and Germany will present their research in the fields of telematics, together with examples of multimedia or Internet-based teaching projects.

Project Manager Karsten Schmidt says he hopes the Jena conference will be as successful as last year's event in Strasbourg, attended by over 350 participants from all over Europe, and from as far away as Brazil, the USA and Canada.

He said: 'Jena isn't as glamorous a location as Paris or Strasbourg, but we hope people will come. It is a great opportunity to present our work to a wide audience. IT companies, educational authorities and representatives from universities are all welcome.'For further information please contact:
