DG XII supports radiation protection initiatives

"Neutron field spectrometry in science, technology and radiation protection' will be the focus of an international workshop being held in Pisa, Italy, from 5 to 8 June 2000.

The workshop will:

- Review the state-of-the-art in neutron spectrometry;
- Report on recent developments and improvements;
- Demonstrate the many applications of neutron spectroscopy.

The conference organisers have now announced a first call for papers for presentation at the event, from experts dealing with nuclear spectroscopy in nuclear physics research, plasma diagnostics, radiation protection and radiation therapy, and other fields.

The workshop will include discussions on a number of topics. Some topics, such as 'workplace radiation from field analysis' and 'neutron diagnostics at plasma experiments', will be discussed in working groups.
