New technologies or biofuels? BIOFUELS 1999 debates the costs

An international conference and tradeshow entitled 'Biofuels 1999' will be held in Brussels from 11 to 13 October 1999. It will focus on the future of Biofuels, concentrating on:
- New technologies;
- New industrial applications;
- New and improved crops;
- Policy instruments;
- Improving the market.
The conference will highlight the current status of biofuels and their prospects, with the main players in the fuel industry giving their version of the potential of biofuels in the fuel market. Success stories from around the world will be presented to representatives from companies, industry, institutes and policy-makers.
An international steering committee has been assembled for this event, chaired by a representative from the European Commission DG VI. Representatives from the European Commission's Directorates General XVII, XII and XXI are also participating in conference.
There will be a series of plenary sessions, as well as four workshops.
