Critical links between ice masses and climates are now of major concern. There are clearly established, strong couplings between the ice sheets, the atmosphere, the oceans and the lithosphere. It is in this context that the Commission of the European Communities and the European Science Foundation are co-sponsoring a European Research Conference on "Ice sheet/climate interreactions" to take place in Aghia Pelagiah, Greece, on 17-21 September 1993.

Goals of the Conference are to improve the understanding of the links between ice masses and climate and to identify if possible contributions of European scientists to global programmes addressing these topics. Eighteen guest speakers from the European Community will speak on key themes. Posters will also be on display at the session.

CYoung contributors may receive a mobility allowance provided by the Commission under the specific programme of human capital and mobility within the Third Framework programme for research and technological development.
