Environment and transport forums FORTRANS'99 and FORM'99 join forces
The joint event is organised by Gestionnaires Sans Frontières, a non-profit-making organisation dedicated to the sustainable development of Romania and its region through the transfer of knowledge in certain fields including transport and environment.
The aim of holding the two separate events simultaneously is to promote the integration of these two related areas.
GSF Project Officer Bogdan Paunica said: 'We decided to run separate events to attract experts in each area, but we hope at the same time they will have some contact between each other. We are trying to promote awareness of the environmental field for experts in the transport area, because in this part of the world these things have been kept separate.'
FORTRANS'99 will address the themes of reform, policy and marketing in urban public transport, intelligent transport systems, funding and finance, and the environment through a series of conferences, workshops and a specialised transport exhibition.
The 1999 event will be the sixth edition of FORM, which this year aims to cover the topics of water, air, waste-recycling, noise, nuclear protection and radiation, energy, industry, soil and nature protection.
Participants must register separately for each event, although they will be able to attend both. It is anticipated that the two events will be held jointly in 2000.
