EPO-SIPO Launching of the English-Chinese Machine Translation Service
The launch of the English-Chinese Machine Translation Service for patents is the result of a collaborative effort by EPO and SIPO to make automatic English-Chinese machine translation tools for patents available to the public. The service is free of charge and easily accessible through the Internet. The service will have a significant impact on the improvement of the global patent system and the dissemination of technological information globally as it will eliminate linguistic barriers in public access to patent information.
"The agreement breaks new ground in the relationship between both regions in that it will bring the wealth of technology contained in patents to the fingertips of innovators on both sides, removing language as a delimiting factor," said EPO President Benoît Battistelli.
The English-Chinese Machine Translation Service will be launched by the President of the EPO, Mr Benoît Battistelli, and the Commissioner of SIPO, Mr Tian Lipu at 9:30 a.m on Thursday December 6. The conference will also address the latest developments in the Chinese Patent system, updates on the European Patent system, and provide a demonstration of the English-Chinese Machine Translation Service.
The conference will be of particular interest and benefit to individuals in the Science and Technology community and will offer excellent information and networking possibilities as well as first-hand information on a variety of developments.
