Over 35,000 key industry players from over 120 countries are expected to attend IBC99, the world's electronic media event, taking place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, from 10 to 14 September 1999.

Also present will be the world's major technology suppliers, comprising over 600 exhibitors in nine exhibition halls.

A series of papers, panels, workshops and, for the first time this year, a string of mini-conferences have been designed to familiarise delegates with the latest topics and technology. Subjects to be addressed include metadata, compression, interfacing and networking for multimedia systems, and digital audio delivery. In particular the effects on the broadcast industry of the anticipated digital revolution and the emergence of the Internet will be debated.
