An international conference: 'Waterway futures - urban and inter-urban perspectives', will be held in Berlin, Germany, on 23 and 24 September 1999.
Inland waterways are increasingly seen as an integral part of the trans-European transport networks (TENs), and their future development will be discussed, with particular attention to technology, transport and logistics.
A broad cross section of themes will be addressed including international cooperation, innovation in ship and propulsion technologies, use of telematics in inland navigation, integration of waterways in urban public transport, water-oriented tourism and logistical concepts for inland navigation.
The Transport Technology Systems Network Berlin (FAV), who organised the event with support from the European Commission (DG III) and the Technology Foundation Innovation Centre Berlin (TSB), hopes to bring together creative experts and to initiate innovative common projects.
