The Westland Complex in Somerset, in the UK, is the venue for a meeting entitled "Innovative technology transfer in the defence and aerospace industries - Diversification issues for suppliers', which will be held on 23 September 1999. There will also be one-to-one company visits on 24 September.

The event is intended to bring suppliers in the defence and aerospace industries together, to consider diversifying into different sectors through innovation and technology transfer.

Small and medium-sized suppliers will present several case studies from a number of European countries, including the UK, Sweden and France, which are already involved in diversifying into other sectors. There will also be a series of workshops examining specific issues such as innovation, funding, technology transfer opportunities and joint European ventures.

The event is jointly organised by Business Link Somerset, the Innovation Relay Centres for South West England, Western and Southern Sweden and Southern France, South Somerset District Council, Somerset County Council and the Somerset Defence Contractors Association.
