The sixth conference on neural prostheses, focusing on motor systems, will take place in Aalborg, Denmark, from 21 to 24 June 2000. Sponsored by the EU's Improving Human Potential programme, the conference follows the fifth annual conference of the International Functional Electrical Stimulation Society, from 18 to 20 June.

The neural prostheses conference aims to bring together the various disciplines involved in the field of restoration of motor and sensory functions of individuals with motor disabilities. A series of student awards are aimed at attracting young scientists in particular to contribute high quality papers and posters.

The IFESS annual conference will bring together specialists in the field to stimulate the exchange of views and new advances, and to discuss current and future goals in various applications.

Prior to the IFESS annual conference, there will also be a workshop on 'motor functions and CNS injuries', designed to stimulate contact between those involved in the restoration of motor and sensory functions. This workshop takes place on 17 and 18 June 2000.

Abstracts of papers are sought for presentation at the IFESS annual conference. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 21 December 1999.
