FP7 ICT CALL AND PHOTONICS Public Private Partnership Info Day in Rome , Italy

APRE organises on behalf of the Ministry for Education, University and Research, in close cooperation with the Photonics Unit of the European Commission and with Photonics21, an info day on Photonics and the Public Private Partnership.

11 March 2013 - 11 March 2013
Austria
FP7 is close to its end, with the last ICT call on Photonics being open until April 16th. All activities for the period 2014-2020 will be launched under Horizon 2020, the new research
and innovation framework programme of the European Commission. In order to better match the approach of Horizon 2020, focusing on innovation, the European Technology Platform Photonics21 is proposing to the Commission a Public Private Partnership. This will allow both industries and academic/research institutions to plan investments and activities on a long term basis, and thus to overcome the so-called "valley of death" between R&D and innovation to the market, turning it into a "valley of opportunity".

The agenda focuses on the presentation of Photonics21, of the photonics PPP and its future role in fostering technology transfer and European industrial competitiveness in the field. The strategic role of Photonics as one of the Key Enabling Technologies will be discussed.

The Italian policy in terms of KET will be presented together with opportunities for Italian industry. The morning will end with an open discussion on the topics presented with major stakeholders of the photonics sector.

The agenda also includes a short presentation of ICT FP7 call 11, objective "Photonics".

Attendance is free of charge, but pre-registration is required.
