The Effect of Diet on the Mental Performance of Children – The NUTRIMENTHE project's Final International Conference

NUTRIMENTHE was set up in 2008 to improve our knowledge of how pre-natal and childhood nutrition affects later mental performance. In particular, the role of specific nutrients (including B-vitamins, iron, iodine, protein in breast and formula milk and omega-3 fatty acids) in the cognitive, emotional and behavioural development of children from before birth to age eight. The question of how parents and teachers perceive that food effects children’s mental function has also been addressed, plus the economic impact of improving mental performance.

Young Scientist’s Forum Lecture Competition
NUTRIMENTHE will be hosting a Young Scientists’ Forum Lecture Competition on the first evening of the Conference, 13th September. This Forum will give Young Scientists’ the opportunity to showcase their work to their peers and an internationally renowned audience of researchers. It will foster an atmosphere of friendly competition to help the competitors enhance their presentation and communications skills. The finalists will be awarded a travel grant to attend the competition. The winner and runner-up will be awarded prizes at the NUTRIMENTHE Conference Dinner on the evening of the 13th September.
