Cross-border cooperation in the medical sector

A conference on cross-border cooperation in the medical sector is being organised in Forbach, France, on 29 and 30 September 1999. The event, organised by Pôle de L'Hôpital, a technical centre focused on the health field, takes place in a region which borders Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium, known as 'Saar-Lor-Lux'.
Three separate sessions will take place. The first will look at cross-border cooperation in the hospital sector, exploring experiences in the participating countries and aimed at determining areas for developing further cooperation. The second session will look at using the EU's Interreg Community Initiative to support cooperation in the medical sector. A third session will look at purchasing procedures in hospitals.
