Senter/EG-Liaison is organising an international partner meeting on the use of bio materials for non-food applications, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on 9 December 1999.

The event will provide an opportunity for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) with innovative ideas to meet with other European companies to explore the possibilities of setting up projects together. It is aimed at suppliers of bio materials (including finishers), bio material intermediate manufacturers and manufacturers of products in which bio material can be used. The meeting also targets engineering consultancies and research staff employed by companies, universities and knowledge institutions.

It is hoped to promote collaboration between European SME businesses in relation to research and development in support of new applications of bio materials in the non-food industry.

'CRAFT' subsidies for cooperative research for SMEs may be available for such projects. Under the Fifth Framework Programme the European Commission has set aside a budget of 1,500 million euro over the next four years for 'CRAFT' projects. EG-Liaison will provide further details on the subsidy possibilities in relation to project ideas at the event.
