ENGAGE at the Samos 2013 Summit

The ENGAGE project (www.engage-project.eu) will coordinate a session and collaborative workshop on open data involving, open and big data experts on the 1st of July, 2013 within the forthcoming Samos 2013 Summit on “Digital Innovation for Government, Business and Society”.

The ENGAGE project (www.engage-project.eu) will coordinate a session and collaborative workshop on open data involving, open and big data experts on the 1st of July, 2013 within the forthcoming Samos Summit on “Digital Innovation for Government, Business and Society”. The Summit will be held between the 1st and 3rd of July. The session will focus on the trends and perspectives around open, big and linked data both from a managerial and a technical viewpoint. Participants will have the chance to see the newest developments in European open data projects and share their views on the future trends in the information management domain. The workshop organized by the ENGAGE project, will focus on analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of the newly launched open data e-infrastructure.

The Summit will bring together an impressive number of stakeholders and public actors, representing research projects, government and civil society bodies, and special interest groups. The Summit aims to foster international cooperation and is working for a new research and practice agenda in Digital Innovation for Government, Business and Society.

This year, Samos Summit will also include the 1st International Summer School on Open and Collaborative Governance (https://egov2013.pns.aegean.gr/(opens in new window)) between 1st and 6th July 2013. The aim of the Summer School is to enable participants involvement in “Open and Collaborative Governance” issues such as open data, crowdsourcing, accurate and analytical modeling and simulation tools, data analysis, mining and visualization technologies, and offer appropriate additional skills towards shaping a successful researcher, a competitive employee and an well-informed citizen.

The Samos 2013 Summit is co-organised by the ENGAGE e-Infrastructures project on Open Data, the NOMAD and PADGETS projects on Social Media policy making (co-funded by the European Commission) the University of Aegean and the Greek Interoperability Centre of the National Technical University of Athens.
