EUSEW 2013 event: Learning from the EU CONCERTO initiative's 58 sustainable energy communities - economic, technological and policy lessons

Improving energy-efficiency of buildings is key to achieving the EU's energy and climate objectives. This event will show how, since 2005, 58 cities and communities from all over Europe have worked together to demonstrate smart, district-level solutions, to improve the energy efficiency of buildings, and to supply renewable energy from on-site sources.

25 June 2013
Austria
This event is part of the high policy level events during the European Union Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2013 from 24th - 28th June 2013.

These demonstration projects were financed under the CONCERTO initiative of the European research framework programmes (FP6, FP7). It forms the basis of the Smart Cities and Communities Initiative's energy dimension. An ambitious monitoring across all projects is assessing how the sites' individual technology mixes perform economically and technically.

The session will:

* Showcase individual approaches and sustainable actions with high impact
* Present a financial and technical assessment of results and impact
* Discuss policy recommendations and conclusions for further action
* Explain the set-up of the EU’s CONCERTO Initiative and projects (aim, approach, interdisciplinary consortia, target groups)
* Discuss the indicator-based Technical Monitoring Database, that renders available all monitoring data of all CONCERTO sites and buildings

The target group of this event: public bodies, mayors, energy agencies, multipliers, bodies and associations active in the energy field, consultants working for the above

The event language is English.
