SMEDIS workshop

A half day workshop on the SMEDIS project (scientific model evaluation of dense gas dispersion models) will be held in Rouen, France, on 13 October 1999, as a special session of the sixth international conference on 'Harmonisation within atmospheric dispersion modelling for regulatory purposes'.

The workshop is in two parts. The first will focus on the project itself, and will include presentations from a number of the participants on all aspects of the work carried out. The second part of the workshop will be a round-table discussion based around a set of themes and will look at SMEDIS in the wider context of model evaluation

Invited speakers will also be present to give the views of:

- The model user/consultant;
- The US perspective;
- Other model evaluation projects;
- The European Commission;
- Industry.

The SMEDIS project on research into major industrial hazards is funded by the EU's Fourth RTD Framework Programme.
