"Towards Zero Waste" - Green Electronics 2013 on Resource Efficiency

In 2010 the European Commission has identified a list of 14 economically important raw materials which are subject to a higher risk of supply interruption. A revision of this list will come out shortly. The European Commission and several member states have monitored the issue of critical raw materials and set different priority actions. But how did industry leaders respond to this threat?
What are major sectors and players in the electric and electronic industry already doing to substitute and/or recover those critical materials? What are the trends in research and innovation? How can we collect more End-of-Life products?
Are these raw materials still critical? Or has there been a fundamental change that led to declining prices recently? Has the pressure on industry gone already? Will it come back? What will the future bring in this area?
These are some of the questions that will be discussed during the Green Electronics 2013 Workshop “Resource Efficiency in the Electric and Electronics Industry” that will take place on November 4 - 6, 2013 in Budapest, Hungary!
Leading experts from producers like HP, Nokia and Panasonic, material suppliers like Rhodia/Solvay, branch associations like Plastics Europe, WEEE systems like EcologyNet Europe, recyclers like Umicore, public authorities, consultants and academia will share their views and by that kick-off the discussion.
On the second day you will get introduced to the major results of the 5-years, nearly 10 million Euros, more than 30 partners out of 10 nations FP7-project “ZeroWIN – Towards Zero Waste in Industrial Networks” with practical demonstrators in the electronics, photovoltaic, automotive and construction sectors! Finally you will have the opportunity to actively influence the policy recommendations to the European Commission and its member states during the Stakeholder Workshop and to visit a WEEE recycler in Budapest as well as the REC Conference Center “aiming at zero emissions”.
