'Unicode and the Web - The Global Connection,' is the title of the sixteenth international Unicode Conference to be held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, from 27 to 30 March, 2000.

The Unicode Worldwide Character Standard is a character coding system designed to support the interchange, processing, and display of written texts in the diverse languages of the modern world. Unicode makes a solid foundation for Internet commerce, networks to access data, global enterprises and software users.

The conference will address topics ranging from Unicode use on the Internet and in corporate and government intranets and databases, as well as the latest developments with Unicode 3.0 Java, XML and Web protocols.

Managers, software engineers, systems analysts, and product marketing personnel responsible for the development of software supporting Unicode are expected to attend.

A call for papers is open until 29 October 1999.
